Associate Director Tunnelling Engineer
We are currently searching for an Associate Director - Rail Tunnelling Engineer for a role with a large Engineering consultancy, to carry out work on the UK’s largest Rail project.
The principal function of this position is to lead tunnelling project work involving all elements of tunnelling issues, either working as the expert within that tunnelling field leading a multi-disciplinary team, or as a sole consultant providing high quality advice to clients. There would be the need to support bids with technical input
The Associate Director Tunnelling Engineershould possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge.
•range of technical and managerial capabilities with in-depth knowledge in either bored tunnel design, cut & cover design, stations and shafts in soft ground or rock conditions and an understanding of all tunnelling methods
•understanding of different construction methods and effects on design. Structural design of RC and steel sections
•able to produce Risk Assessments and Specifications
•excellent inter-personal and negotiation skills are essential, with the ability to understand and present others' points of view
•a high degree of oral and written communication skills is required; ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and lucid way to all levels
•experience in preparation of bid documents
•innovative tunnelling engineer looking to develop technical and management skills
•candidates should be able to select and develop methods for solutions to non-standard engineering problems
•The ideal candidate should possess a chartered engineer with BEng/ MEng honours degree in civil engineering or equivalent
