Our client, a global rail and rolling stock specialist is currently recruiting for a Design Manager- Rolling Stock Interiors, to lead engineering interfaces with internal and external customers, suppliers and third party stakeholders and the delivery of mock-ups as a part of the successful execution of a multi-billion pound project to supply and maintain new passenger rail vehicles.
The Design Manager- Rolling Stock Interiors, will be responsible for:
•Liaison with all relevant, internal and external, design, manufacturing, operational and maintenance stakeholders
•Manage external engineering resource to ensure their on-time delivery of work-scope in alignment with company based design staff.
•Act as the focal point for providing a UK perspective on areas of train interior design.
•Contribute to train interior design activities.
•Manage the procurement and on-time delivery of multiple design mock-ups covering design areas which may include cab, saloon, toilets, doors and catering.
•Lead stakeholder design reviews, delivering design assurance statements to demonstrate compliance with customer and legislative requirements.
In order to apply for the Design Manager- Rolling Stock Interiors you will have:
•Degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering related discipline
•Chartered Engineer status or working towards
•Knowledge of TOC's
•Extensive experience in a rolling stock design / operations environment
•Experience of Human Factors analysis
•Experience of managing globally distributed engineering service providers
•Experience in managing the delivery of complex procurement programmes
•Experienced in different phases of a project, covering design, manufacture, test, and acceptance.
•Successful track record of Engineering Management on products in the UK or European Rolling Stock environment.
•Good overall knowledge of Train design, manufacture and operational issues.
