FIELD ENGINEER-TUNNELS,PORTALS AND SHAFTS
Following a significant project win, a vacancy has become available for a Field Engineer-Tunnels, Portals and Shafts. The principal function of this position is to take overall responsibility for progress, cost, quality, HSE at contract level.
Your key responsibilities are:
Delegated duties and responsibilities of the Project Manager under NEC3 ECC in accordance with the Works Contract Administration Plan and the Plan for Carrying out the Duties of the Project Manager and the Supervisor for the Advance Works.
Using authority delegated to them by the Project Manager to manage all construction contracts within area of responsibility, supported by Site Teams at each geographic location or system based area of responsibility.
Manage the Construction Package elements of the procurement process
Manage contract interfaces on site, and coordination across contracts with other Construction Managers.
Keep Project Manager informed of contract and site progress & performance.
Communicate with and instructs contractors in accordance with the Works Contracts Administration Procedures on behalf of the Project Manager, through specialist contract administrator, using the project administration software.
Responsible for local community relations with support from stakeholder liaison office.
Supervise & lead site teams.
Maintain contract performance against project milestones, KPIs, program, budget and other established metrics.
Manage the contract through all stages from award, mobilisation, production, start-up, commissioning, snagging, take over and closeout.
Provide constructability input to design.
Establish key relationships between the contractor senior management.
Establish relationships with the Contractors on a Quality basis.
Monitor the Work Program and notify organisations of activities and interventions.
Support the Contract compliance with the Construction Quality Plan.
Support the management of NCRs and Snag List items at contract level.
The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge. These points should align with the key areas of responsibility:
Experience of managing the construction of significant value packages of work on a major infrastructure project
Knowledge and experience of construction quality systems and processes
Understanding of project controls processes
Knowledge and experience of site-based ES&H processes and procedures
Engineering qualification, preferably Civil
Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors. Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/ subcontractors responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
