Its service covers maintenance, renovation and logistics chain management for supplying spare parts, leading turnkey projects, client training and technical advice.
Location
This vacancy will entail travel to the numorus client locations throughout the UK and as such can be based from one of numerous sites throughout the country.
The Role
Reporting to the Vice President of Train Life Services and as the function leader of the EHS team for TLS UK & Ireland projects, you will support the Operations Team to improve EHS performance. You will also lead and co-ordinate the activity supporting Transport UK with EHS compliance/co-ordination, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies.
Duties & Responsibilities
Interface with all UK function/project teams to ensure ownership of EHS responsibilities across the business and actively lead improvement in EHS skills and commitment.
Coordinate EHS community initiatives across UK business
Lead improvement actions that are applicable to UK sites.
Drive and support site EHS performance improvement plans to ensure continual improvement of EHS results.
Monitor, evaluate and initiate actions to improve, focusing on local workforce and management involvement and actions
Develop and cascade annual EHS objectives/targets to all UK sites that include Transport, Product Line, and local requirements.
Act as the EHS Coordinator for UK activities when multiple Product lines are present.
Coordinate the development and implementation of action plans by all Product Line projects to comply with any new regulatory, requirements.
Provide assurance to Transport MD that projects comply with UK regulations through sample audits and compliance reviews
Coordinate the EHS section of the TERG meeting and define the inputs required from the UK businesses
Support the mobilisation of projects and preparation of tenders for all Product Lines
Facilitate the development of the Transport UK EHS Policy
Represent Transport at UK EHS Coordination Meetings
Coordinate the development and implementation of Occupational Health Surveillance plans by sites to comply with any new regulatory, customer or company requirements.
Identify and communicate EHS training requirements and support UK Training Department to develop and deliver EHS and statutory programmes.
Implement and coordinate audit and inspection programmes to demonstrate compliance with regulation, standards and Company procedures. Ensure actions from audits are effectively closed.
Ensure there is systematic review of new regulatory and customer requirements relating to EHS and Occupational Health.
Ensure EHS & Occupational Health results are reported monthly in accordance with the Alstom Reporting Manual using the corporate reporting system.
Provide EHS / Occupational Health performance reports to the management team(s).
Ensure EHS Events (e.g accidents) are effectively reported, investigated and actions implemented in accordance with regulatory, customer and company requirements.
Ensure EHS is part of senior management roadmap and regularly discussed.
Manage the communication program regarding EHS issues that ensures regular communication on EHS topics to all employees.
Lead EHS communication with external parties such as regulators, customers and other stakeholders.
Work with Transport, Product Line & Joint Venture Cross Sector EHS networks to share good practices and participate in business-wide improvement programmes.
Lead the evolution of EHS culture within UK by developing and implementing programmes with HR and Operations
Support the Tender Team to ensure EHS aspects of tenders are fully evaluated and that the submission to the customer is of the highest standard.
Safety must always be a prime consideration of every person and you are required to ensure that product safety, the safety of people and the environment is never compromised.
Qualifications
Educated to HNC/HND or Degree level, or similar level of qualification.
NEBOSH Certificate and / or diploma recommended
Desired Technical Knowledge / Experience
A minimum of eight years experience, preferably within the railway industry at an operational level
Knowledge of applicable regulatory and specific (Rail) Industry safety and environmental standards are a plus
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels is key
Ability to influence others working towards a common vision or goal is mandatory
IT literate with knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project applications.
Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
