The Client.
The client is an international leader in rail infrastructure engineering projects and the UK's largest rail engineering and services provider.
The Role.
To prepare integrated and co-ordinated project plans, enabling resource and material requirements to be forward planned and monitored to meet project schedule and cost deliverables.
Duties & Responsibilities.
Ensuring comprehensive, logic linked, project plans are developed incorporating resource and skills planning, materials planning, cost estimating, earned value forecasting and reporting
Ensuring prepared plans are continuously monitored to accurately reflect progress and maintain accurate earned value, cash prediction, and resource data for internal and external purposes
Identifying critical paths and developing action plans to maximise project quality, cost and delivery objectives
Reporting on Work Package progress, co-ordinating all functional activity on the project and ensuring that problems and bottlenecks are anticipated and resolved in a timely manner to prevent negative impact on the project
Producing regular reports and giving feedback to management on project progress and critical issues
Maintaining risk and mitigation plans to manage critical issues and problems.
Ensuring the provision of accurate data to enable the Work Package Managers and Project Managers to ensure that co-ordinated project activity complies with and delivers company financial and business targets on cash and project margins
Communicating with Work Package Managers and the Project Manager, to ensure that the project programmes will deliver customer and contractual requirements to time and cost
Ensuring regular project co-ordination meetings are held on the status of the project with specific reference to engineering activity, sourcing, quality, cost and delivery
Participating in the continuous improvement of planning and scheduling processes to support successful project delivery and business improvement
Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications Required.
PTS desirable, Educated to degree level desirable
Clear knowledge of project planning processes and project lifecycle
Experience in project planning / scheduling role
Knowledge of the railway industry, Network Rail GRIP 3, 4 and 5-8, Possession and Isolation Planning, Safe Systems of Work
Excellent knowledge of Primavera P6 (P3e, P3) and a working knowledge of MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access packages
Knowledge of contractual requirements and law
Knowledge and experience of working in a project business process environment
Knowledge of Risk Analysis Tools
