The Company:-
We are recruiting for a known rail vehicle overhaul specialist with years of experience in their field of mechanical modifications and maintenance. They are a well established company with a long standing presence in the industry with some very influential clients in rolling stock. As its a heavy overhaul/mechanical maintenance company the premesis are often very dirty and the culture of the role would suit someone with a previous background of being in this kind of production envioronment.
KPIs:-
Your performance will be monitored against a number of KPI’s including but limited to the following;
*Jobs delayed awaiting material
*Repairs deferred awaiting material
*Total value of inventory
Performance = Reward
Good Performance = Better Reward
Poor Performance = No Reward
Job Specification:-
The successful individual will be responsible for the following factors but would not limited to them;
*Specify, source and implement new purchasing and stock control system as per the company standards.
*Work with stores stakeholders to revise consumable stockholding.
*Work with stores stakeholders to revise strategic spares float.
*Manage stores staff.
*Manage good inwards procedures and streamline processes to ensure all stock is managed with ease and production in mind.
*Manage a quarantine system for non-conforming material.
*Manage material warranty process and utilise this process to minimise any production issues on site.
*Manage the process for issuing stock from stores including accounting for material used by each job.
*Manage process for dealing with repairable material returned from jobs.
*Manage waste flows of non-repairable materials taking account of the environmental policy and legal requirements.
*Take a proactive role in ensuring that efficient production is maintained by ensuring material is available when required by the project plan. (This will require attendance at weekly production meetings.)
*Maintain list of approved suppliers
*Maintain list of approved suppliers for safety critical goods and services and manage accreditation process as mandated by GM/RT2450 and SP05 internal procedure.
*Work with Engineering Manager to develop alternative suppliers and to negotiate with existing suppliers to ensure that RVEL is getting best value from it’s supply chain.
*Manage supplier audit program.
*Maintain the COSHH register initially.
*Manage environmental aspects register intially.
The Candidate:-
*Will ideally come form an engineering background
*Will have experience of negotiations and buying form approved supply chains.
*Should be very organised and meticulous in their approach to the job making sure all cost areas, production aspects and overall running has a dedicated and motivated individual running them.
*Should be a good communicator, able to ask for assistance when required and not afraid to direct and motivate other when required.
*Will ideally but not essentially be CIPS qualified as this will have a given the Materials Manager a good overall spectrum of purchasing and supply chain managment.
The Salary:-
Although this role may initially be a contractual role in which the candidate will be paid a rate of up to £14.50LTDph there is an option to progress into a permanent role paid at £30,000 plus paid holiday and benefits available.
