Duties include:
Produce and analyse train services, rail schedules, bus timetables, operational plans and crew rosters, which maximise performance reliability, departures and journey times.
Lead, produce and present operational plans and reports for all service changes and special events to the client as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
Analyse passenger demand (by statistical analysis, auditing and liaison with external traffic generators such as ExCeL) and devise train service plans which best meet this demand; to liaise with representatives of client, designing schedules that are compliant and / or meet the client's evolving requirements, and to collate these details for the purposes of publishing the Annual Service Plan.
Liaise with various internal and external stakeholders in order to devise train service and replacement bus service plans during maintenance closures of the railway and communicating all service alterations.
Design reliable train schedules, simulate and test them to ensure they are robust, communicating their detail and management techniques to Controllers and other staff operating the railway.
Person Specification:
Knowledge of TOCs contractual relationships & Franchise Agreement.
- Good understanding of train planning, train service scheduling and staff rostering.
- Knowledge of the performance regime, including the method of interpreting performance statistics.
- Understand the impact of suggested service changes in terms of performance and customer service, with the ability to provide summaries for senior managers.
- Skilled and fluent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, plus email software.
- Good understanding of TOC services operation, rolling stock and infrastructure.
- Flexibility to work shifts & weekends
