PWay bias Principal Technical Officer(PTO) required to work within the major Project Division of the UK’s leading provider of Rail Infrastructure services, the role will be London based with UK travel required.

Purpose of job

Lead and direct all technical aspects on site associated with work carried out within the business. This will include renewal and project based work. Responsible to the Permanent Way Technical Manager.

Key responsibilities are:

• Ensure that all staff under your control are technically competent to carry out their duties in accordance with Railway Group, Line and Company Standards

• Undertake regular site inspections to check that work is carried out to the required technical standards and that staff involved in the undertaking technical duties understand what is required of them

• Carry out site surveys, level surveys and curve realignment surveys as directed by the project managers and such other technical aspects that may be required to deliver packages of work and be expected to direct other technical staff in these requirements

• Arrange to survey and produce drawings for the procurement of new pieces of track work both new build and maintenance replacements

• Maintain welding and stressing records for work undertaken.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Preferred qualification ONC/ HNC in Civil Engineering

• As least 5 years experience in a variety of roles delivering front line work principally in permanent way. Must have covered p.way maintenance and renewals in career.

Other information

• Must be willing and able to take up work opportunities throughout the UK.

• Must Hold a Full Driving Licence.
