Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Principal Project Engineer, manage a team of track site engineers within the Track Delivery Unit , ensuring that each worksite has adequate engineering cover, and that requisite site records are reviewed for accuracy and completeness, taking corrective action where necessary. Also assist the Principal Project Engineer in developing various PMF related documents and engineering based reports. Must be willing and able to work occasional night shifts to give briefings, lead team meetings and undertake site visits/inspections.
Experience:
•Must develop and maintain clear, effective communication lines with various TDU project managers and construction engineers (as key stakeholders)
•Must have a broad understanding of track design principles and LU standards.
•Must have ability to lead and manage a team of track engineers, giving clear direction and guidance where appropriate.
•Must be aware and adept in various track survey techniques and have experience of working in the tube environment.
•Wide experience of providing professional and technical advice, guidance and support on project engineering issues
•Wide experience of project engineering in one discipline area
•Experience of carrying out technical document review and analysis.
•Preferred experience in underground railways.
•Experience in managing people as direct reports.
•Experience of building relationships with, and influencing, a range of people at all levels within and outside the organisation
•Experience of working in a construction or engineering environment is desirable.
Knowledge:
•Ideally qualified to at least HNC, with extensive track related work experience.
•Intermediate knowledge of maintenance techniques and good industry practice.
•Knowledge of safety legislation and operating rules and regulations.
•Knowledge and capability to undertake quality inspections and site investigations.
•Knowledge of LUL business, its obligations and priorities.
•Knowledge of risk management principles.
•Understand the framework of the structured environment in which contractors are working.
•Awareness of contractual arrangements that apply.
Skills:
•Ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports and analyse engineering data.
•Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally.
•Ability to build effective working relationships, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally and to influence.
•Ability to plan, implement and manage projects to deliver to time, budget and quality.
•Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective performance.
•Ability to use office based computer packages, e.g. MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) to basic level.
