Our client is an established engineering consultancy looking to recruit an experienced Project Planner to work in their Transportation Sector providing services on their Rail Projects. They are a global company with exciting opportunities for the right candidate.
Role Objectives
•To manage the programme delivery in support of the Project Manager, to ensure effective delivery of projects
•To take a key role in projects within specialist planning field, providing technical input and guidance
•To provide consultancy services for rail projects directly to external clients
•To build professional profile and reputation, for self and for our client, in the industry
•To establish and consolidate enduring relationships with clients, during projects and following completion
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
•Providing planning services on major, multi-disciplinary rail projects, including analysing and assessing both design and construction phases
•Preparing and maintaining project programmes, using appropriate software
•Preparing regular project progress reports to the Project Manager, including resource and cost issues
•Working with project team to ensure clear understanding of project objectives
•Communicating with project team to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, the project programme and client requirements
•Co-ordinating engineering functions, reporting back to the Project Manager
•Seeking regular feedback on processes and taking appropriate action
•Implement a good level of innovation in technical issues and problem solving
•Being aware of, and compliant with, relevant H & S regulations and promoting a culture of awareness within the team
•Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or our client
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
•Relevant degree with demonstrable consulting and planning experience in the UK heavy rail market sector
•Good level of commercial awareness, including cost planning and budget management
•Good motivation, influencing, people management and delegation skills
•Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and relationship building skills
•Demonstrable experience in operating computer-based project control systems (Primavera P6 and MS Project)
•PRINCE2 training and/or post graduate qualification in related topic an advantage
•Good understanding of CDM Regulations, particularly the designer’s requirements, desirable
