Senior Engineer, Asset Management and Maintenance Services

Derby

C. £40,000 - £50,000 dependent upon experience

Our client is looking for a resourceful and flexible senior engineer to strengthen the technical section in the Asset Management and Maintenance Services team to help achieve growth targets. The successful applicant will have experience in the production of technical documentation for rolling stock and hold an engineering qualification.

The key assignments of this post will include:

• Devising new or revised maintenance and overhaul regimes
• Writing clear and concise documents to support these regimes
• Extending maintenance and overhaul intervals
• Reducing Maintenance and overhaul costs
• Undertaking risk assessments leading to maintenance and overhaul deferrals
• Updating maintenance and overhaul plans
• Ensuring that assignments are delivered on time and budget and meet the clients expectations
• Writing precise technical and commercial bids
• Managing approvals and regulatory issues in respect of maintenance regimes
• Managing audit trails for the varying types of documentation

Key skills and experience required for this post:

• Thorough understanding of rolling stock maintenance principles and practices in the UK including maintenance plans, regime structures and how depots are managed
• Experience of devising new maintenance or overhaul regimes
• Good project management capability and ability to work to tight deadlines
• Leadership skills –ability to lead small teams through complex assignments and ability to develop skills and expertise of individuals
• Proven record of successfully delivering of assignments
• Ability to assess assignment risks and how they can be managed (including technical, contractual and financial)
• Excellent communication skills and in particular the ability to write with clear and concise text
