Working as a Lead Engineer in our railway depots based either in Newcastle or the West Midlands is a challenging and demanding role. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will lead, direct and mentor Technical Engineers in ensuring the working environment and work practices meet or exceed the standards of quality expected by AmeyColas and the Client, and that they conform to relevant legislation. Possessing excellent interpersonal as well as technical skills, you will support the Production and/or Campaign Manager in all professional and technical matters associated with construction for the allocated multi-disciplinary sites. You will also co-ordinate all technical Permanent Way aspects of construction.
Project work here is of significant, career-defining size and scale. Colas Rail leads the field in providing total railway infrastructure solutions, from high-speed systems to light and urban rail, and we are playing an increasingly influential role in maintaining and upgrading the UKs rail network. For this reason, were looking for someone with leadership, judgment and financial acumen. You must have:
Education to HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent suitable experience
Comprehensive understanding of Permanent Way and related engineering principles, including interfaces between disciplines
Proven successful experience in the execution of Track Renewals
In-depth knowledge and understanding of track standards, processes and procedures
Computer literacy
Safety Management training
Understanding Health and Safety legislation relative to Construction and Engineering
Must be able to drive
