Due to ongoing expansion Thales are looking for a Senior Installation Technician to come and join our existing team in London. Thales Senior Installation Technicians will work on existing and new projects including work on the London Underground and National Rail. Senior Installation Technicians at Thales provide flexible and adaptable major engineering installation services. This role is a key position in the construction group, with a hands on approach and therefore the post holder will be proficient in installation standards and practices and will be capable of leading an on site team of up to 30 operatives both permanent and contract staff. Applicants should have a good understanding of Health & Safety requirements and have a good level of relevant experience.
The Role:
Typical Installation of:
§ Power, telecoms and cable containment systems (tray, trunking, conduit etc)
§ Customer Information Systems (PA & displays), control equipment, cables, brackets & peripheral equipment
§ Radio equipment including antennas, brackets, cables and cabinets
§ SMS (Station Management Systems) equipment, cables, brackets, cabinets and batteries
§ CCTV cameras, PZT, brackets, cables and housings
§ Other retail and operational telecoms equipment, cabinets, brackets and cables
Key responsibilities and Tasks:
§ The post holder will generally be the senior person on site and will be required to interface with the clients representative(s) in a professional manner
§ Ensure worksites and activities are suitably risk assessed and controlled, making sure resources are efficiently planned and utilised
§ Conduct site surveys and assist with estimated installation costs
§ Manage effective monitoring of progress and the identification and mitigation of risk to delivery Ensure that all site activities are carried out in accordance with approved Method Statements
§ Preparation of site packs/work package plans
§ Carry out Quality Assurance & SSoW checks
§ Investigate both technical and safety incidents as directed by the project team
§ Equipment testing in accordance with approved specifications
§ Update of drawings and documentation as necessary
§ Regular & consistent submission of daily site logs & project logs
Skills, experience & qualifications required
§ Strong interpersonal skills, including written word
§ Ability to work under pressure
§ Able to work on own initiative
§ Microsoft Office proficient
§ Report writing
Experience:
§ Installation of containment systems, cables (including termination & testing), cabinets & comms equipment in a London Underground operational environment.
§ Understanding of key health and safety requirements
§ Installation and Testing & Commissioning of comms equipment
