The client.
The client is a leading Engineering specialist working on a number of flagship engineering and infrastructure projects based in the UK.
The Role.
The company are now looking for a S.H.E.Q Manager to join the team based in Birmingham.
Duties & Responsibilities:
To Manage Project Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Assurance elements of the Birmingham Gateway Project.
Provide professional liaison between client and the Client/Principal Contractor points of contact.
Raise the profile of client SHEQ activity and ensure that competent operatives and Sub-Contractors are deployed to deliver a Project where client is regarded as the top H&S performer. Provide expert opinion/knowledge in respect of Network Rail environment Rules and H&S Standards, and ensure that requirements in respect of the clients Principal Contractors Licence are not compromised.
Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications Required:
Support and guide the Project Director/Managers/Supervisors in the execution of their Health & Safety Policy duties and respond to requests for assistance on any safety, health, welfare or environmental matters that cause concern to any member of the Project Team.
Exercise the necessary authority to order work to stop to prevent accidents, ill health, environmental incidents or H&S/Environmental legislation breaches.
Conduct planned and reactive inspections of sites, offices and associated plant to ensure compliance with the Company Health, Safety and Environmental Policy and Rail industry Policies/Safety Standards and make recommendations directly to company members on matters raised, to correct/improve performance.
Liaise with clients, principal contractors and client SHEQ Department as necessary to ensure that the highest standards of Health & Safety in the workplace are maintained.
