Our expertise spans the breadth of the rail engineering design disciplines through the entire project life cycle and is provided from a range of offices across the UK.

Our Heavy Rail Business Unit is a 200 strong employer of rail professionals developing and delivering multi-disciplinary design solutions across permanent way, signalling, telecoms, electrical, mechanical, civils and geotechnical engineering. Recent impressive project wins with Network Rail and national major Contractors have provided opportunities to grow our resource pool at all levels across our UK offices with current key projects including Crossrail, HS2 (London/Birmingham/Manchester), S&C Renewals programme, Borders Railway, North Doncaster Chord, CASR and a wide ranging portfolio across the UK and internationally.


The Role

URS has huge growth plans, and we are looking for committed, motivated Signalling Design Engineers (at all levels including Senior / Principal) to help us deliver them. We are currently recruiting into our Swindon, York & Glasgow offices.

As a Signalling Design Engineer you will have hands on delivery of technical challenges provided by a wide range of signalling related projects, and undertake or independently check complex detailed signalling design work. As such you will have a thorough understanding of signalling principles backed by technical qualifications and with demonstrable experience in the railway environment.

Current projects include; S&C renewals, Rochdale Phase 2, Thames Valley Signalling Centre, work for Translink in Northern Ireland, NW Electrification and many more. We offer interesting work Grip 2 - Grip 5.

Education/Qualifications/Experience

Relevant degree or HND (BEng / BSc Electrical or Mechanical or equivalent preferred for lead roles).
Appropriate membership of IRSE
Signalling Designer Licence (Principal Licence for Senior Roles)
