FirstGroup is looking forward to helping Glasgow host the 2014 Commonwealth Games as a possible official transport partner in 2014. As a major supporter of Glasgow’s bid, Scotland-based First has been a key player in the 2014 campaign. Fitness-friendly First recently stageg a relay race around the shores of Loch Ness.  First ScotRail trains helped raise awareness of the bid. Says keep-fit-devotee, Mary Dickson, managing director of First ScotRail, ‘It is quite simply tremendous that Glasgow has fended off the competition and triumphed in the battle to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Key to the success was the extraordinary effort and determination of the bid team in general and in particular their exceptionally successful strategy in uniting sport, business and most importantly, the public, behind the bid. I am very much looking forward to 2014 – it is a great opportunity to demonstrate to the world what a fantastic country Scotland is.’
