July 14th 2010
Staff at First TransPennine Express have raised a praiseworthy £25,000 to help children's education in the North of England.
The money goes to FAST, the Families and Schools Together Scheme, a part of Save The Children. The idea is to help children achieve more in school and improve their relationship with their family.
The £25,000 was presented to the charity at Manchester Airport Railway Station, where representatives from FTPE and Save the Children were joined by pupils from Aspinal Primary School in Gorton, where the FAST scheme was launched. Staff raised the money through staff raffles, bake sales, collections and various events including a sponsored silence.
Says Vernon Barker, managing director for FTPE, ‘We are really pleased to be able to support Save the Children and the fantastic work that it does. Our employees have done a brilliant job raising this much needed money which will help support children's education in the North of England.'
