This company is an expert body that helps the rail industry collaborate to continuously improve and meet future challenges. It spans the whole railway, including in its membership: infrastructure companies; passenger train and freight operators; rolling stock owners; and suppliers to the industry. They supports rail in the areas of safety, standards, knowledge, innovation and a wide range of cross-industry schemes.
The role will see the applicant joining a team of analysts in the R&D. The R&D department sits alongside the rest of the company and operates to a set of criteria which ensures the research programme is generating new knowledge for the industry and supporting the dissemination and implementation of that knowledge.
This exciting opportunity as Lead Research Analyst will put you straight into the analyst team set to providing support to the rest of this company in the form of robust analytical advice in the development of key initiatives. With the potential to become a permanent position this role is an initial 12 month FTC.
Successful candidates will have experience providing analytical advice into research project development; building and maintaining an understanding of the research landscape and applying a support to individual projects depending on their size and criticality; creating reports and other content to support the industry in understanding current and future rail industry issues; Technical Leadership, acting as a Lead within the analytical function, which will incorporate providing both technical and decision support to members of the analytical team, other stakeholders in the team and others more widely.
Ideally candidates will have an Economics or STEM degree with experience of leading teams, management and coaching; substantial experience of structuring research and evaluation and building associated business cases; strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience of using appropriate styles for communication at senior industry levels; track record of building good working relationships and influencing multiple stakeholders both within own organisation and externally and preferably, having knowledge of the GB rail landscape.
