Rail Planner/Analyst in Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
My client is currently looking to recruit a Rail Planner/Analyst to join their Rail team in Leeds. As a Rail Planner and/or Analyst, you will work with peers and project managers in areas relevant to rail projects. You will work with senior staff, who will actively support you in project delivery and in your wider career development. Successful candidates will have exciting opportunities to work across the rail sector alongside our train planning, demand and revenue modelling, financial and economic modelling teams.
Our rail team provides commercial, technical, regulatory and policy advice to a range of transport operators, investors, governments and regulators around the world. This advice is underpinned by the highest standards of research, forecasting and analysis, some of which you will be responsible for.
Essential Skills
The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate:
* An intelligent understanding of the rail industry and of the markets which rail serves;
* An interest in working within the rail sector on an on-going basis and a desire to learn about the industry more widely;
* An appreciation or experience of one or more of the following disciplines in rail planning:
* Rail timetable and resources planning and the tools used for this purpose, for example RailSys; The economics of providing rail services, for example the cost and revenue of rail services; and rail demand forecasting and the tools used for this purpose, for example MOIRA.
The candidate will also be required to demonstrate the following general aptitudes:
* Have a relevant further education qualification or higher education qualification and supporting experience;
* Be proactive and flexible to work in a project led consultancy environment;
* Be highly numerate and have excellent analytical skills;
* Have good communication skills, including the ability to explain technical details clearly to non-technical audiences;
* Be able to use Microsoft packages including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook - being an advanced user of Excel would be beneficial;
* Be able to work effectively as part of a team;
* Be able to write in a well-structured and logical way, using a variety of methods to effectively illustrate points;
* Be able to work with limited supervision, taking responsibility for delivery of work streams.
