Freightliner is a leading rail freight provider with businesses in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and the Middle East. We are looking for a Safety Development Analyst to join the Saftey team based in London. This role will play a key part in delivering the Corporate Safety objectives.
Duties of the Role:
• Proactively develop critical safety and wellbeing briefing materials and relevant communications based on lagging and leading KSPI indicators
• Regularly prepare Board level briefings (materials including appropriate detail on FRA’s,HFI’s and NMI’s) and general communications and briefing packs for all levels of the business including bulletins, best practice initiatives and monthly brief materials for distribution across the company.
• Taking full responsibility for the management of the company Incident Database managing the input, output and storage of all safety-related incident date and information by ensuring accuracy, consistency and quality. The role includes making active improvements to the structure of the database and associated reports to ensure our company incident information accurately accommodates business needs and changes.
• To act as the main point of contact for various existing safety systems and databases; managing and taking full responsibility for the input, output, maintenance and reporting of such systems. This includes manual input of data, generating structure reports to represent relevant trends and working with external and internal stakeholders as required to make improvements to the structure of such systems.
• Identify problems concerned with business strategy, policy, organisation, procedures, methods and markets.
• Develop, manage and implement the company’s health and wellbeing program & other safety programs.
• Work with unions and safety representatives across the company to improve consultation for projects and new initiatives related to health, safety & wellbeing.
• To review and develop group safety procedures and policies as required to successfully integrate business changes within the safety management system.
• To assist with system integration projects related to health & safety which may occur as a result of business acquisitions and growth.
• To help develop and implement key training and development projects across the company to increase line management and frontline staff knowledge on topics related to health, safety & wellbeing. This may include internal training on existing systems or external courses as relevant.
• Assist our Commercial Team in preparing information for tender applications as required.
• To assist service platforms within the business in the application of consistent implementation of health, safety and wellbeing processes and practices.
Qualifications & Skills
• Degree level or equivalent (A degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Health Science is preferable).
• Knowledge of contemporary health, safety and wellbeing management practices.
• Exposure to incident investigations and managing incident databases.
• Exposure to health and safety information / data management systems, data analysis and interpretation.
• Understanding of key risk management principles and practices.
• Skills in developing group training / awareness programs.
• Strong experience working in a group level business improvement and systems role, preferable within the field of health and safety.
• Experience working in both industry and unionised environment.
• Strong communication skills – verbal & written and the ability to liaise confidently with all levels of staff and third-party stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel across the UK
The successful candidate will be expected to work efficiently, accurately and professionally to fulfil the outlined responsibilities. You will also need to be positive, willing to pursue change, use initiative and be able to make reasoned and proactive suggestions in order to deliver an improved safety performance.
