About the Job

Due to ongoing business growth, we are recruiting a Business Development Manager to lead our growth plan and to champion further, our brand and reputation within the Rail Industry. You will report to the Commercial Director, responsible for building on existing relationships, developing new clients and ongoing management of relationships and opportunities. Your focus will be on converting the agreed business opportunities into profitable sales orders. You will also work in conjunction with operations and our technical teams to define objectives, strategies, partner opportunities and the development of offer proposals / presentations and sales materials.

The ideal candidate

The ideal person will be self-motivated with a winning mentality and who is driven to generate new business and new opportunities. You will be an experienced sales professional with Rail industry experience, who can demonstrate past achievements in developing key stakeholder relationships and who has succeeded in a sales target environment. You will have a strong focus on providing a high level of service, with a professional approach, determination and ambition, be an excellent communicator, team player and comfortable managing multiple tasks.

The skills required for this role are:

• Work jointly with the Head of Business Delivery to progress new pipeline leads to secure technical demonstration meetings and new business opportunities
• Develop brand new business leads within all transport sectors
• Translate the overall strategy into an executable plan for developing new business leads, e.g. building a contact database and a marketing / contact plan for developing leads
• To provide overall updates to the executive team on business development progress
• To suggest and attend dinners, reception drinks, awards events, as a member of the Incremental team alongside existing management to bolster pitches and strengthen organisational awareness in the marketplace
• To work jointly with the Commercial Director to oversee the outbound business development effort to ensure agreed strategies are being followed and maximum penetration is achieved
• Come up with ideas for new product types / markets etc and demonstrate the business value
