Working for a Tier 1 Principal Contractor who specialise in Civils & Construction within the Rail sector
the client is looking for an Assistant Buyers to support the Subcontract & External Plant Supply Chain
function within Procurement.

To be suitable for the position you must have
- Demonstration of previous purchasing experience is required.
- GCSE Maths & English to Level 4 or equivalent
- Effective personal, co-ordinating and organising skills
- Experience specifically in the construction industry (desirable) or suitable professional qualification.

Although not essential it would also be advantageous if you have
CIPS or be already undertaking CIPS

Role Information
- Under the direction of the Senior Buyer you will ensure that the material and plant buying function is carried out effectively, efficiently and in accordance with the relevant procedure.
- To ensure that the most competitive prices and terms are gained in respect of services and products purchased and deliveries to site comply with the programme.
- To ensure that they are aware of new/environmentally friendly material availability.
- To liaise with the Project Managers and staff in respect of material and plant purchasing.
- To ensure that all non-operated and operated plant is fitted with the most up to date security devices/measures.
- To provide information and complete all electronic data for reporting on Buying as required as per the agreed procedures.
- To correlate and record all plant and materials used, including safety data sheets and conformity certificates, so they can be used in the Health and Safety file returns.
- To be able to monitor and manage calibration re-testing for externally hired and owned equipment.
