Job title: Buyer - Engineering
Job location: Birmingham
Salary: circa £35,000 per annum
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The purpose of this role is to work closely with internal stakeholders and the supply base, on sourcing of new and existing products without impacting on quality of goods and services. This will also involve the negotiation of both pricing and delivery schedules through to contract and Long Term Agreements and management of suppliers with emphasis on delivery / costs / quality. You will work with both direct and indirect suppliers across a range of commodities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
*Sourcing of new products and services and the issuing of quotes.
*Conduct competitive bid exercises to test pricing and sourcing strategies.
*Continual development of supplier relationships, working to maintain supplier rating.
*Regular supplier review meetings (QCDR).
*Raising of purchase orders and initial delivery schedules in line with project requirements.
*Manage Material project budgets.
*Manage all aspects of commercial implications of supplier generated Technical Queries (TQ's)
*Carry out source change and supplier risk assessment.
OPERATION ACCOUNTABILITIES
*Take a proactive lead in resolving supplier related issues
*Works accurately and efficiently - identifying improvements in existing processes and implementing change to develop efficiencies
*Generate monthly Dept. KPI's and Project Reports.
*Maintain supplier delivery performance reports
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
*MCIPS qualified or working towards
*Proven negotiation skills
*Operational purchasing experience within an engineering and manufacturing environment.
*Ability to understand engineering drawings, materials specifications and Bill of Materials.
*Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel / word.
