The role will include providing procurement for an Assembly Hub in Newport. The role will be based in Newport but during initial training period (approx. 3 to 6 months) the training will be conducted in one of Spain manufacturing sites.

BUYER- RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supports the Purchasing Manager (HQ-Spain) in the procurement of all manufactured materials from the external supply chain (among others, seats, windows, FRP parts, insulation, metallic parts, electric systems).
• Implements commodity strategies targeting productivity and supplier rationalization for direct material.
• Request for quotations, analyse quotations, negotiate prices and select suppliers.
• Leads technical review meetings with suppliers.
• Maintains and develops relationships with supply base.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Proven purchasing experience (minimum of 2 years’) engineering/manufacturing environment. Preferable in railway industry.
• Ability to independently problem solve and make decisions.
• Excellent negotiating skills.
• Availability for travelling within the UK and the other European offices (mainly Spain HQ).
