Senior Buyer
Location: Doncaster
Role overview
In this role you will be required to identify significant cost reductions, whilst maintaining the highest standards of material quality, service levels & safety, working within a robust & proven set of procedures, in line with the agreed category approach. In addition you will be expected to work closely to support the New Business Team functions to deliver compelling commercial offers under demanding time frames, whilst at the same time, develop & introduce procurement strategies covering a number of product portfolios to support Bids for both new business growth & existing business. In addition you will price & deliver requests & New Stock introductions, covering Traction & rolling stock as well as infrastructure.
This role is a high profile position with responsibility for managing, developing & coaching a small number of buyers located on multi sites.

Previous Experience
• Must have a proven track record in improving Quality, Cost & Delivery metrics & identifying & selecting new suppliers
• Has a full understanding of tendering processes & has undertaken analysis of tender / quotation documentation, tender evaluation & reward
• Has taken a lead role in negotiation of terms & conditions & Service Level Agreements
• Has undertaken supplier development projects to improve supplier delivery performance
• Some time spent in a manufacturing environment is preferred
• Experience in project planning & resource management (Time management skills)
• Experience in working with cross functional teams, e.g. Engineering, Commercial
Skills
• Can develop & implement procurement & product strategies
• Can implement negotiation strategies, methods & techniques
• Can demonstrate understanding / reduction of total acquisition costs
• Proven communication / presentation skills – both verbal & written
• Creative thinker, well organised & self-disciplined
• Can demonstrate understanding of product cost
• Interpretation of forecast data & can communicate business needs to vendors
• Knowledge & experience in SAP is preferred
• Good understanding of MS Office capabilities
• Has experience in rapidly bringing new products & propositions to market
