Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are seeking a Senior Buyer on a contract basis to provide support to the business and be an expert in procurement.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a leading ROSCO who are at the forefront of innovation within the rolling stock industry. Due to the current Senior Buyer taking maternity leave there is a number of projects that are at risk of not being completed on time.

My client is looking for an experienced Buyer to come on board and assist the Procurement & Supply Chain Director with getting these projects back on track. This will be an immense opportunity for someone to join one of the top rail companies in the country.

Role and Responsibilities

• Develop, manage and maintain category strategy.
• Responsbile for all commercial aspects of supplier relationship, seen as first point of contact.
• Develop commodity strategies
• Build total market knowledge of respective commodities and sub-groups
• Lead in tendering and contracting for respective categories.
• Responsible for supplier performance for the commodities,
• Lead supplier performance reviews (senior management interaction, improvement plans, status against closure) at poor performing suppliers.
• Develop commodity performance KPIs.
• Manage Supplier Performance
• Manage Project Interface
• Manage Cost Reduction
• Manage operation interface

The Candidate

The successful candidate must understand commercial contracting principles, law and the importance of good purchasing and value for money. Leading supplier negotiations, and contracting processes and representing the organisation to suppliers must be at the highest levels.

Essentials

• Education to degree standard
• CIPS qualified
• Good understanding of contracts

Desirable

• Legal or commercial experience would be advantageous
• Technical knowledge of Rail supply chain would be ideal
