A major supplier & maintainer of tramways, main line trains, metro cars, electrical renovation & signalling systems and responsible for delivering application projects and introducing products across the UK rail industry.


Opportunity

Currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join our team based in Manchester; working in the sourcing team on a high-profile overhaul project. A 9-month contract, working 40 hours a week. Day rate of £250-£300/day based on experience


Purpose of the Role

To understand fully the principles and processes behind the Sourcing function and to be able to assist with Sourcing activities at a buyer level. Reporting directly into the Lead Buyer, this role is based on site in Manchester and working alongside the Overhaul Projects team. The position requires key links with external and internal links with suppliers, project teams, production teams, supply chain, EHS etc


Role and Responsibilities

Performance Measurement
*Ensures QCD targets achievement, CONQ & claims management on scope of responsibility
*Sourcing Savings
*Percentage of supplier spend under contract, and maintenance in RAIL-SYS
*Risk reduction/mitigation
*Number of QCDT reviews with Suppliers
*Maintenance of a suitable number of vendors on the Alstom Approved Supplier List
*Use of all Sourcing Tools and compliance with SMART

Accountabilities
*Managing a small team

Responsibilities
*To manage supplier selection, supplier tendering and placing of purchase orders, ensuring the delivery of material and services are in-line with business requirements, processes and procedures, and Central strategy
*To drive cost reduction, process improvement projects and support reliability projects
*To liaise with the Supply Chain Manager to ensure inventory requirements are met by Sourcing department
*To review the qualification of Suppliers and reduce/maintain in-line with Vendor Reduction Programme
*To be responsible for all elements of Supplier performance to the business for the responsible scope
*To ensure the Sourcing department utilises the relevant tools and processes and encourage a Continuous Improvement ethos in terms of roadmaps and benchmarking
*To ensure that all material can be safely stored and handled.
*To consider the environmental impact of the design.


Candidate Requirements

Educational Requirements
*Degree Level
*CIPS or equivalent

Desired Technical Knowledge / Experience
*Extensive Knowledge of Sourcing and Purchasing.
*Confident and proficient communication skills
*Proficient in the use of MS Office software and Alstom Sourcing Tools (Altes , SOL , SAP).
