Our client is looking to appoint a Strategic Buyer (Rail) for a 6 month contract, starting immediately, to assist the Purchasing Manager with the following:
* Assist with sourcing strategy to maximise opportunities whilst meeting business needs
* Support with the continued development of strategic supplier base
* Negotiate agreed contract terms and conditions with suppliers
* To carry out regular supplier reviews with assigned key suppliers
* To work collaboratively with key suppliers to ensure business need are achieved
* To work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure all business requirements are passed onto suppliers
* To provide continued support to the Project Management Team during project start-ups to achieve on time deliveries and added value.
Person Specification:
- CIPS qualified or working towards
- Knowledge and understanding of materials, equipment and services for the business
- Proven track record in commercial engineering environment
- Proven track record in strategic procurement
- Proficient in Windows package particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage relationships with internal customers, external customers and suppliers
- Ability to negotiate with supplier to get best value
- Full UK driving license
- 3-4 years purchasing experience
- Must be willing to travel with and outside of the UK
