Job Summary
The buried services team undertake office based statutory utility searches and compile buried utility information for use in engineering projects with a strong emphasis on the rail sector.
The team is part of AECOM Geophysics within the Asset Management team in the AECOM Nottingham office.
The primary role is office based, but with the potential to undertake field work in support of other associated disciplines.
Reporting to the Buried Services Manager, the Buried Services Technician shall assist in the review of utilities data and the production of permits to dig for AECOM intrusive works on Highways and Railways.
Primary duties include:

Receiving and Preparing buried services information for review
-
Prepare desk study information from Network Rail and Highways England
-
Review of buried services info, deciding whether services are in the area of interest, determining the location of services and recording them on the Buried Services Q-form

Checking own and others work.
Additional Duties may also include:
-
As required, assisting the geophysics or other Nottingham based teams in their daily workloads

CAD work to assist in production of drawings
-
Flexibility to work away on site including weekend and night works to support fieldwork

Other duties as directed by your managers.
Minimum Requirements
-
Attention to detail, methodical and organised
-
Use of Microsoft office software (especially excel)
-
Able to read and understand plan maps
-
Keenness to learn on the job
-
Enjoy problem solving
-
Good written and verbal communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Degree, though not essential.
-
CAD (AutoCAD or Microstation)/GIS skills advantageous.

Engineering/Site/surveying experience helpful
-
Rail experience preferred, but not essential as training will be provided
