POSITION OVERVIEW
Project Engineering and Technical support for the Proposals team for the Alstom Control Systems product range (SapphireT48 MCS, SPADAlert, TD & RISI and Delphin RIIU, PIIU, PMux and TDM) following the standard Alstom procedures.
KEY RESULT AREAS
- Produce the Technical Proposal that meets the customer’s aspirations. Act as the technical interface with other functions within the business.
- Identification of the required design, installation and testing resources required to support implementation of the Technical Proposal.
- Ensure that the project is delivered to the project schedule, to the required technical standards, specifications and procedures and management of all non-compliance issues.
- Full responsibility for project concept, requirements, assurance plan, acceptance criteria, project scope and technical specification.
- Support the Project Manager in hazard identification and management, checking designs, work package plans, and task briefs to identify and mitigate project risks.
- Attend Design Review meetings covering the designs produced as and when required.
MEASURES
- Ability to interact with other experts and peers and to problem solve and identify technical conflicts.
- Technically correct, accurate and robust resource loaded project programs to support the Technical Proposal.
- Ensure Engineering deliverables are on time and within budget.
- Ability to interact with other experts and peers.
- Actively seek to improve processes in order to maximize Project margins.
- Support the CRE with periodic design reviews.
POSTHOLDER REQUIREMENTS
Skills
Essential:
- Control System product knowledge, including any limitations on how the products interface with other signalling subsystems.
- Accurate and able to concentrate on the task, time management and critically review own work.
- Interpret Contract Requirements and propose solutions that comply with the Alstom Product Portfolio and interface with Development where delta’s or new functionality is identified.
- Good oral and written communication skills, good problem solving and solution building skills.
Desirable:
- Sound knowledge of safety system architectures, Safety software techniques, CSM, formal risk assessment, signalling principles and basic railway operations
- Able to work with other disciplines and manage small teams
- Able to prepare system definition specifications
- Meticulous, with an eye for detail
Qualifications:
- Degree level – Essential
- Working towards IRSE Project Engineering Manager - Desirable
Experience
Essential:
- Microsoft Excel, Word
- Control Systems ideally Railway
- Working within a Team
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of Industry Standards
- Microstation CAD
- Control system design
