Missions & Main activities
The role relates to the execution of the Birmingham tramway network extension contract. The aim of this once-renewable five-year contract is to construct 4 km of new line in the coming three years (three extensions) and an additional 15 km in the following five years (two additional lines).
The role of Egis Rail is included in a partnership agreement called "The Midland Metro Alliance" which brings together the Prime Contractor, the Construction Consortium and the Engineering Office.
This exciting role is for an OLE CAD Technician who works in conjunction with the OLE Engineers in order to produce all the required drawings and schematics of the design. This role spans across a multi-extension tramway project in West Midlands.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the production of all necessary CAD drawings of the OLE design (pre-feasibility to construction design) both in 2D and 3D. In addition, you will produce OLE layout plans, interface drawings, OLE cross sections and assist in design reports.
You will have:
• An appropriate degree (e.g. BEng in Electrical Engineering) or a HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering and be a member of a relevant institution (e.g. IET)
• A proven track record and experience in the field of Urban railway installation, preferably on light rail infrastructure projects
• Detailed understanding of OLE terminology and parts
• Previous experience in the OLE design of rail infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of all relevant legislation, standards and guidance
• Knowledge of relevant design packages
• Good working knowledge of 3D design
