Senior CAD Technician in United Kingdom
AECOM is currently recruiting for a Senior CAD Technician to join our vibrant and experienced Bridges and Structures team in our Altrincham office. Our Altrincham office has an established track record of successfully delivering bridge engineering schemes for many years, both in the North West and also throughout the UK and overseas.
The team provides concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs on a wide range of schemes, either as standalone bridge commissions or as part of major multidisciplinary projects. In addition, the team has significant long term involvement with bridge assessment and inspection, principally in the rail environment, often leading to the requirement for refurbishment or replacement.
Current and recent commissions from the office include Manchester Metrolink Trafford Park Line Extension, SMART Motorways, Network Rail Ordsall Chord Link, A6MARR, Stockport Interchange River Mersey Crossing and Menai 3rd Crossing.
Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of new build infrastructure, and improvement projects.
As a Senior CAD Technician you will have the following daily responsibilities:
- Initiating and continuing to completion any size project either independently or as the team leader responsible for others in large projects.
- Responsible for initial major CAD/BIM set-ups including liaising with clients and architects regarding CAD protocols and standards if required by the team.
- Produce all 2D and 3D design information required for any type of structure, using industry standard modelling applications from Bentley and Autodesk.
- Be conversant with BS1192 relevant standards and guidance associated with delivering in a BIM environment to Level 2.
- Prepare RC and steelwork details as required.
- Maintain CAD/BIM software.
- Responsible for checking of models, details and schedules.
- Manage CAD/BIM Technicians.
- Monitor a project programme and have an appreciation of project costs.
- Developing and delivering BIM models and 2D extractions.

Minimum Requirements
- Significant and substantial relevant experience gained within a Bridges or Structural team.
- The ability to carry out a wide range of tasks in support of the technical staff.
- Ability to produce all 2D and 3D design information required for any type of structure.
- Experienced with Bentley and Autodesk.
Preferred Qualifications
- Educated to HNC level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
- EngTech or working towards this qualification.
