Client

My client is responsible for the Operations and Maintenance of a vital part of the Greater London Rail network, taking charge of all relevant facilities and infrastructure assets. No day is the same with this business as they carry out a variety of planned and reactive works on the rail network, which they hold an agreement with well into the 2020’s. So, if you are looking for longevity and consistency this role could be the one for you! They operate a ‘close-knit’ team culture with an incredible staff retention record. They invest heavily in their staff, as to be multi skilled is a requirement with such diverse projects. In return the team has a tremendous work ethic, keeping this critical piece of rail infrastructure fully operational 24/7….

The role

No day will be the same in this role, as you will be doing, learning and offering your skills and experience to provide solutions. You will cover the length and breadth of the rail network reacting to defects and carrying out planned maintenance and minor construction/civils works where required. These projects could include but not be limited to:

• Low voltage Electrical repairs
• Maintenance of Telecommunications systems including radios and speakers
• Supervision of HVAC repairs
• Refurbishment of station facilities
• De-vegetation and minor civils work
• Mechanical and Electrical building services
• CCTV installation and maintenance

This is just a selection, so now as you see no day is the same! You will work in a team (all multiskilled but specialist in one area) and will be advised accordingly by the Asset Management team regarding what the mission is on any given day!

Required Experience

As you can see this is a multi-skilled role, therefore a specialism or qualification in one of the following areas would be required, to demonstrate engineering capability: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Telecommunications, HVAC, Building trades. You will likely be delegated to jobs that suit your expertise but there will also be the opportunity to learn a whole host of engineering skills!

This role could suit a forces leaver who has worked on this type of equipment, a Facilities Engineer looking to develop skills or someone from a rail background looking to work for a great team with longevity of work!

Salary & Shifts

This role pays a basic salary of £35,000 per annum plus excellent company benefits. It also offers a very generous shift roster which is planned up to 3 years in advance, so you will know when you are coming and going! More details of the shift pattern can be given during the application process. Please be aware though this does include night, weekend and bank holiday working.
