Linbrooke is seeking to appoint a chartered Principal Civil Engineer with experience of working within the rail environment. Linbrooke is renowned within the signalling and telecommunication engineering fields and are now actively expanding into the civil engineering design and build that are associated with these disciplines.

If your seeking your next opportunity with dynamic and progressive business who are driven by a “can do” approach, we are looking to appoint a Principal Civil Engineer to join our Swindon team. To be successful within this role you need to have the following experience:

  • Chartered Engineer with membership of a suitable institute
  • Have gained a strong Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (A Masters being preferred)
  • Work hands on within the Civil Engineering team to produce designs, reports and drawings to appropriate standards from concept to construction issue
  • Undertaking outline and detail design, both individually and as part of a wider team, for projects within specified timescales
  • Check, review and coordinating projects using approved engineering techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Preparation and coordination of technical and non-technical reports
  • Ensuring the civil design takes account of the environmental, constructible, sustainable and safety requirements
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders at an appropriate level to ensure the civil design is communicated effectively
  • Site liaison and assisting with design support activities during construction
  • Contributing to project and design team meetings
  • Maintaining an awareness of best practice guidelines and emerging technologies
  • Developing innovative design solutions to serve and benefit our clients
  • Temporary works experience
  • Have a full understanding and working knowledge of Eurocode
  • Working knowledge of Network Rail design standards for Civil Engineering works
  • Experience of inspection and assessment of rail structures.
  • Knowledge of utilities provision, diversions and construction practices
  • Understanding of the CDM, CSM, health and safety legislation covering the construction industry
  • Able to provide commercial input into tendering and applications
  • Maintain strong working relationships with our clients and will help promote the company
  • You will have a working knowledge of analysis software, AutoCAD, Microstation and BIM level 2
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have the ability to contribute immediately
  • Aid the development of more junior employees
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
