We are currently looking for a Rail Civils Area Engineer whom would undertake similar duties as a typical Rail Civils biased Project Engineer or a Design Manger to work HS2. Within the role you will help deliver cost-effective design solutions in which you can integrate the design amongst the other disciplines. This isnt just a purely technical role and you will engage with technical and local stakeholders providing scheme updates regarding the design undertaking public consultation. 

As the Area Engineer will operate within the Delivery team reporting directly to the Senior Area Engineer being in Birmingham but there will be travel to locations along the line of route. You will identify and explore Value Engineering opportunities in which youll identify and assess design risks within the project ensuring they are fully considered within the design process and present your design recommendations to the Senior Area Engineer. 

As mentioned, this isnt purely a technical focused position and the relevant candidate would need be confident in communicating with Stakeholders and the general public. 


Job Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering
• Achieved or working towards professional Chartered status, ideally via the ICE
• Extensive experience of design and engineering, ranging from feasibility to detail design, working on a large, complex Rail Civil infrastructure project.
• Strong stakeholder engagement experience identified by the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a range of multidisciplinary stakeholders, demonstrating strong influencing skills.
