West Midlands, commutable from Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham, Kettering and Worcester
Salary / Benefits:
£40,000 - £55,000 per annum, this is negotiable dependant on experience. plus core benefits

My client, an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Rail Design Engineer to join their lively Rail design team.
The successful candidate with be part of a team responsible for the successful delivery of our design commissions for major clients including Network Rail, HS2 Ltd, London Underground, Contractors (in a design and build context) and other agencies such as Train Operators, Councils, Passenger Transport Executives and academic institutions.
To be suitable for the position you must have;
- Civil Engineering Degree (B.Eng, M.Eng or equivalent) (Essential)
- Excellent Design Management expereince
- A significant understanding of the UK rail network & infrasructure
- Experience in the use of design software packages (MicroStation, InRail, ClearRoute, etc)
- A member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and ideally Chartered / Incorporated Engineer
Although not essential it would also be advantageous if you have;
- Experience of acting formally in the role of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE)
Role Information;
You will be responsible for the technical Civil Engineering design input on Rail projects, and will lead(mentored if necessary) the Design Management of the civil disciplines on Projects, coordination and managing all the necessary interfaces and input that are required to deliver a railway design. You will be responsible for liaison with relevant external parties to ensure understanding of the client's needs and project requirements. Also responsible for liaising regularly with staff managers and other technical leads and team leaders. You will regularly report to your team leader, and where necessary your project manager, and ultimately the Group leader.
