Don’t miss your opportunity to join our Rail Commercial team. Based in Motherwell, you will be part of a commercial team responsible for providing commercial advice and support to Amey’s CEFA Scotland contract.
As the Commercial Assistant, you will work closely with the commercial team and operational business to implement commercial best practice to maximise value and minimise risk for both Amey and our customers. You will be responsible for a number of commercial processes such as; cost capture, valuation, reporting and assist in ensuring recovery of all contractual entitlements.
About the team
Within our Rail division we offer innovative and versatile asset management, engineering design and operational delivery solutions to Network Rail as well as Transport for London, train operating companies and other rail providers. Our expert design and consultancy services are provided on a range of projects, from specialist tasks to major projects, all in accordance with the official governance process for rail investment projects. This means we maximise time and cost savings for our customers.
What will this role involve?
Key accountabilities include, but not limited to, assistance with:
- Assist in the measurement and valuation of the works to deliver contractual entitlement and to support the necessary activities to provide accurate cost capture
- Support the Commercial team to ensure they are able to comply with the Amey systems, processes and procedures on Contracts
- Work within the strict deadlines required under the Contract(s) and as required by the Company
- Assist in producing monthly and/or weekly cost and value data to support the Commercial team in production of forecasts to completion of the project(s)
- Assist in the collation of data/facts with respect of all variations (changes) to the works in conjunction with other project team members
- Ensure that all contemporary records are kept by the project team members for use in supporting claims, extensions of time, and the evaluation of variations
- Collate and file all contemporary records
- Support the Commercial team in all aspects of subcontract procurement and payment
- Assist in collating commercial and financial feed-back to the Estimators
- Provide commercial support as required / directed
- Assist the Commercial Team in submitting in a timely manner applications for payment, Change requests and any additional contractual requirements
- Maintain professional working relationships at all times
- Promote a team-working environment
- Promote the Amey safety culture
- Participate in regular monthly safety meetings
What are we looking for?
- Educated to a good level
- Relevant experience in construction related disciplines or suitable experience.
- Enthusiastic, confident and comfortable at communicating at all levels.
- Strong computer skills particularly with MS and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent, proven analytical, negotiating, and organizational skills.
- Good documentation control.
- Numerical accuracy is essential
- Ability to work within tight timescales
- Self-motivated, requiring minimal supervision.
- A basic understanding of contracts and administration thereof
- Basic understanding of Finance.
