As Master Supply Partner, we are proud to be working as the sole in partner with the UK arm of this leading international and multidisciplinary infrastructure construction company, specialising in the development and delivery of key infrastructure projects across the globe such as railway construction and systems, roads, tunnelling and fibre optic networks.
Having worked on a number of the UK's most prestigious Major Projects and Alliance Partnerships (inc' HS1, HS2, Crossrail and Optical Fibre Deployment), they are seeing continual growth and opportunity in a pipeline of existing and tendered rail projects and Alliances.
They currently have an immediate requirement within their Head Office for a Network Rail experienced Commercial Manager to lead and develop a team managing their interface on a 10 year railway Alliance partnership.
As the ideal candidate you will have Network Rail Client Side experience, with a good understanding of either NEC Joint Venture or Alliance contracts, with railway systems experience an advantage.
Due to nature of the contract, excellent Excel and financial analysis skills will be required, with a finance background an advantage.
You will be responsible for providing professional commercial expertise and guidance to enable the programme to achieve compliance with relevant business targets, processes and procedures. To assist in the resolution of commercial issues, management of Alliance Subcontractors and act as the champion within the function when these issues require escalation.
- Act as the key commercial interface with programme, Alliance Partners, Alliance Subcontractors and external stakeholders providing appropriate professional support, guidance and leadership.
- Management and mentorship of the Commercial Team and interface with the Finance Team to ensure Contractual and Commercial targets are achieved.
- Assess commercial risk and implement suitable control measures where required.
- Take a leading role and advise on the management and resolution of variations, commercial disputes and claims arising from the programme / Route / Subcontractors.
- Implement appropriate controls to monitor compliance with company and Alliance commercial policies and procedures.
- Review company and supplier performance against agreed Key Performance Indicators and take appropriate corrective action where required.
- Commercially manage relationships with contractors and suppliers to maximise benefit for the business and the Alliance.
- Lead the commercial administration for any third party contractual arrangements that are undertaken by the programme / Alliance.
Your skills and experience will include:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally within a Quantity Surveying, Finance, Accounting or related Commercial field.
- Membership of an appropriate professional organisation relating to Quantity Surveying or Finance.
- Previous finance experience or qualification an advantage, but not essential.
- Experience of working client side with Network Rail an advantage.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Knowledge of railway industry contracts and NEC contract administration as a Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor.
- Knowledge of the railway industry and related supply chains, including commercial and contractual administration processes.
- Able to effectively communicate at all levels, both internally and externally
- Effective and proven negotiation skills with ability to influence decision making
- Ability to manage and drive successful business change programmes
- Computer literate including ability to utilise in-house and external software
