Job title: Project Commercial Manager

We are recruiting for an experienced Project Commercial Manager to join our client in Derby at an exciting time. We are dealing with projects ranging from development to production and delivery of complete vehicles as well as running depots, including service and maintenance of trains, our Project Commercial Managers (PCM) are leading our Project Core Teams in the management of the commercial, contractual and claim aspects of the customer, consortium partners and supplier contracts.

The PCMs act alongside the Project Manager for all commercial matters in the project. They provide the knowledge and tools to follow the contractual obligations and monitor compliance, making sure that our company's rights resulting from contractual changes are properly captured and exercised and drive financial improvements for the project EAC.

Key Responsibilities:

*Define, implement, maintain and support effective contract management, commercial management and claims management, policies, procedures, strategies and activities that promote contractual compliance and prevention of claims
*Successfully proceed with VOs and legitimate claims and defend effectively against claims made by other parties
*Define commercial strategies and (co-)lead negotiations on VOs and claims;
*Where possible under the contract, be main point of contact for the customer & partners in commercial matters
*Hold contract awareness sessions and hold specific trainings, participate in Change Control Boards, and Risk & Opportunity workshops and act as the main point of contact for the Contracts & Legal function
*Assist Project Management meetings to maintain effective change management and contract management policies, procedures and activities
*Prepare the necessary reports and obtain all necessary approvals, in order to validate proposed VOs, claim resolution strategies and claim settlements.

Required Skills and Experience:

*Education: Quantity Surveyor; Business Management, Engineering, Finance or Legal degree;
*Typically at least 5 years of experience in a relevant role
*Experience in a similar industry represents a plus
*Soft skills: independent practitioner, self-driven, self-organised, solution-oriented
*Extensive experience of Project Contract Management, Project Commercial Management, obligation management, change management, claims resolution and litigation, cost recovery management, dealing with/interpreting financial information.
*Extensive knowledge of drafting and reviewing terms and conditions and risk assessment and mitigation planning.
*Extensive experience of Variation Orders and claim preparation and resolution.
*Sound commercial knowledge and contract negotiation skills.
*Knowledge in Delay Analysis and legal background represents a plus.
