Senior Commercial Manager - Rail
Location – Manchester or Birmingham
4-6 Months initial contract
£400 - £450/day
You will need:
Essential:
- Extensive knowledge of the construction industry and related supply chains, including commercial and contract administration processes and measured term contacts
- Extensive knowledge of construction contracts
- Strong leadership skills
- Highly numerate
- Able to effectively communicate at all levels both inside and outside the business
- Proven ability to manage and drive successful business change programmes
- Effective and proven negotiation skills with ability to influence decision making
- Experience of working within a large, policy driven business
- Experience of dealing with numerous suppliers on a number of projects at any one time
- Computer literate including ability to utilise in-house and external software
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Membership of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or equivalent professional body
- An effective and confident communicator
- Able to thrive within an ambitious team
- Experienced in claims analysis, prevention and mediation
The Role:
- This team provides a pre and post contract management service to Works Delivery.
- The role covers a diverse range of duties, ensuring that the Commercial arm is professional, consistent, responsive, customer – focused and accountable.
- As a Senior Commercial Manager, you’ll be the key commercial interface with the Programme Delivery Functions and be accountable for the relationship with the Programme Director and Programme Commercial Manager.
- You’ll provide the professional support, guidance and leadership we need to enable Works Delivery to achieve compliance with relevant business targets, processes and procedures.
- You’ll look to you to help resolve commercial issues at Delivery level and act as the champion for contractor management and sourcing strategies .
- Example duties include, assessing commercial risk, devising & implementing sourcing and category strategies at programme level, reviewing supplier performance and managing relationships with third parties in order to maximise the benefits.
- You will be expected to feed in to pre contract strategies and lead on post contract activities.
- You must recommend mitigating action on all commercial risk and claim events, providing management reports.
- Your experience will enable you to manage all commercial correspondence and contractual notices and you will lead the final account settlements on all projects to manage close out as per the project authority.
- You must also support the demonstration of efficiencies and continual improvement of estimating by undertaking cost analysis.
