The role
Your experience of railway operations will be pivotal in this commercially focused role. Working with a portfolio of specific franchises or projects, you will provide expert commercial and technical advice on both day-to-day performance and strategic infrastructure issues. Fostering productive working relationships with train operators, our frontline delivery partners, and ensuring that they meet their contractual and performance obligations, will be critical to your success. You can also expect to advise and brief Ministers and carry out major contractual negotiations.
About you
This is a challenging role in a fast-moving, commercial environment that requires a good understanding of rail operations, performance regimes and market pressures, as well as political and regulatory issues. With a track-record of negotiating major contracts, you will have a focus on robust financial and resource management, delivering efficiencies and securing cost-saving opportunities. The ability to build and establish collaborative commercial relationships with multiple stakeholders at board level is essential. Capable of solving complex problems in a pressurised environment, you will have exceptional communication and negotiation skills, and a high degree of personal resilience.
