Job Description
This role will report directly to the Director of Safety & Engineering and manage the day to day running of the Safety and Competence Management Systems employed by the company in order to ensure the safety of both staff and rolling stock. The role will also perform a Management function for the small team of electrical and mechanical engineers employed full time by the company and any contracted staff.
As such the role will include the following tasks:
• Monitoring & maintenance of the CMS and its implementation
• Monitoring & maintenance of the SMS and its implementation
• Quality Assurance
• Supplier Audits
• Internal Audits
• Monitoring of all records with regard to the exams conducted on rolling stock including Defect recording and Corrective Actions System.
• Production of Engineering Change Documentation
• Production of Work Instructions for Modifications to stock.
• Management of Internal & External Maintenance Staff
• Vehicle Maintenance Management
• Oversee Changes to VMIs
• Staff Competence Assessments
• Company Management of NIRs
• Incident reporting
Location
The location of works varies during the year:
April – November the role is predominantly based at Assenta Rail’s offices in Edinburgh.
During November – April the role includes time working away to oversee Exams & Maintenance on the vehicles.
Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
• Experience with the production of Engineering Change Documentation
• Experience with the production of Work Instructions for Modifications to stock.
• Experience Managing a Team
• A HND or degree in the areas of Engineering or Safety
• Experience with rail vehicle Maintenance
• The ability to work both unsupervised and as part of team
• Experience with Safety & Competence Management
Desirable Experience
In addition, experience in any of the following areas is desirable but not essential:
• DRACAS
• Supplier audits
• Hazard Identification (HazIds)
• Risk Assessment
• Common Safety Method Regulations (CSM)
• Technical Standards for Interoperability as relates to rolling stock (TSIs)
• Process for Approval for Placing into Service (APIS)
• Railway Undertaking Processes for Placing into Use (PIU)
Annual Leave
• 35 days annual leave including 2 weeks shutdown for Christmas.
