I am looking to embed a Construction Manager/Director within the Ministry of Defences project team at HMNB Clyde as part of an international consultancys engineering team. You will be responsible for over £100m of Nuclear and non-Nuclear infrastructure as part of the ongoing Dreadnought Submarine Programme. Your role will cover projects at all stages, with some already at construction stage and others still in design. The Programme is expected to last another 10 years with multiple project lifecycles to manage throughout your time there. This is an on-site role, primarily based at Faslane, with occasional trips to RNAD Coulport and into Glasgow for design/construction update meetings.

About the Project:
HMNB Clyde is undergoing a near £2 billion upgrade as part of the £30 billion Dreadnought Submarine Programme, delivering the UKs future at-sea nuclear defence arsenal as a replacement to the current Vanguard Submarine Trident Nuclear Programme. As part of the Programme, Faslane is going through multiple multidisciplinary structural and infrastructure upgrades in order to support the new Dreadnought class vessels as well as improve operations on-site.

Your Role:
You will be embedded within the MOD, acting as a representative and consultant covering all aspects of construction, implementation and commissioning. You will interface with different projects teams from design through to construction and eventual handover, ensuring relevant contractual requirements in terms of time, budget, quality and Health + Safety are met. You will be able to interface with a variety of stakeholders within the MOD / DIO and other external consultants/contractors.

You will be used to dealing with £100m+ programmes from concept through to completion, ensuring adherence to relevant NEC4 and CDM 2015 regulations. You will build relationships with large teams and key individuals to ensure effective collaboration on, and completion of, numerous large-scale design and build over the next decade. 

Due to the nature of work, you will be required to hold current, or obtain, SC or DV Clearance. Further, due to the nature of assets involved, only UK Nationals are eligible for this role. 

Your Background:
  • Relevant education in Construction, Engineering, Health + Safety Management
  • Current / Able to obtain SC or DV Clearance
  • NEC3 / NEC4 contract experience
  • Willingness to work at HMNB Clyde / Faslane
  • Relevant professional memberships MCIOB, CMIOSH, MIET, ICE, IStructE, MRICS
  • Relevant experience in large-scale defence, nuclear/non-nuclear infrastructure, ports
  • Total project lifecycle management experience
