MTS Construction Manager in London, London, United Kingdom
Thales GTS are the operator and maintainer for the London Underground's Connect network - the
telecoms and radio backbone that provides LUL's operational communications systems. Thales are in
the early stages of a project to replace the current generation of Connect radio base stations with
more modern equipment. The works associated with the project include the replacement of GPS
antennas and radio cabinets. At many sites, these works are logistically complex, requiring staging
works, scaffolding erections and/or crane lifts on or impinging on LUL, local authority or third party
property.
Thales is seeking an experienced Site Works Manager or Engineering/ Construction Manager to lead
the planning and delivery of works at logistically complex sites. Key duties will include:
? Research and analyse access requirements at a range of sites across the LUL network.
? Liaise with specialist contractors to define solutions for complex cabinet deliveries or
inaccessible GPS antennas.
? Prepare (or work with subcontractors to prepare) applications for LUL/Network Rail access
permits, storage licenses, lifting permits, etc
? Prepare (or work with subcontractors to prepare) applications to local authorities for
pavement closures, lane closures and road closures.
? Organise communications for local residents who may be affected by noise linked to the
project.
? Coordinate activities with the broader project team.
? Ensure works are delivered efficiently, within budgets and schedules.
? Work on days and nights as needed.
? Liaison and interface with Internal and External stakeholders
? Ensure all works are planned with appropriate concern for the health and safety of the
operatives involved and the general public.
Required Experience/Skills:
? Document production of relevant documents
? Document review of external documents
? Experience planning works in the LUL/NR environment.
? Experience planning road and/or pavement closures with London local authorities and/or
Transport for London.
? Experience planning work in a safety critical environment.
? Experience working at height and planning works at height
? Experience assembling scaffolding and planning scaffolding assembly
? Experience with construction phase plans
