Permanent Way Construction Project Engineer in Cardiff, Cardiff, United Kingdom
The Role
Reporting to the Director, you will provide technical support for assigned projects ensuring successful delivery of Pway designs within a rail environment.
Responsible for ensuring allocated contracts are technically compliant with the relevant Group and Client standards
To be the technical contact and liaison for clients and sub-contractors in order to resolve technical issues within projects
Ensure that all design activities and deliverables are compliant with current company, British and European standards, and review and prepare briefings where required
Ensure that designs, for relevant disciplines, consider constructability, demolition, removal and recovery issues in accordance with CDM requirements
Review and comment on new and updated group and company, British and European standards and prepare onward briefing to all design and construction staff, including subcontractors, where applicable
Ensure that the technical standards are maintained in all aspects of signalling project work, in order that safe and successful project implementation and future reliability is achieved
Participate in and monitor the planning and progress of works in relation to timeline and budget
Be the Project Manager's senior engineering representative on the appointed project
Discharge safety responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation, Company procedures including development of the project Safety Plan
Undertake Pway Design CRE duties on contracts as required and liaise with other disciplines to ensure successful project engineering, highlighting any project derogations or temporary non-compliances required by the project in accordance with NR Standards
About You
To be considered, we are seeking candidates with the following credentials:
Engineering Degree or equivalent
Member of the IET or another recognised professional body
Essential Experience:
Ability to undertake Pway Design CRE duties
Significant experience in all aspects of Pway and Railway Engineering within the UK
Practical experience of the operational requirements of railway construction works
Knowledge of project safety requirements and contract conditions
Excellent communications skills, understanding of task time and people management
Strong leadership skills
