Role: Contract Chartered Structural Engineer
Location: South-West London
Rate: £280-320/day (negotiable)
Duration: 3 months initial, potential to extend
Type: 4 days per week

I am looking to place a contract structural engineer in an engineering consultancys office in South-West London near Surbiton. The firm has a focus on high-end residential and healthcare developments at a value up to £5 million. The firm requires someone 4 days per week for the short term with flexibility on the working week being offered for the right candidates and options to extend for the right individual.

This is a leadership role within the design team, taking control of a range of new-build, refurbishment and assessment projects. Successful candidates will be responsible for their own structural projects, as well as overseeing a range of more junior engineers/technicians.

This post will require candidates to sign off on other designs, so candidates will ideally be chartered with either the Institute of Civil Engineer (ICE) or Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE), though candidates with an extended number of years in relevant sectors will not be discounted. As well as technical responsibility, the firm encourages members of the senior team to regularly liaise with project stakeholders, ensuring regular contact as projects progress.

This role would suit a chartered structural engineer in the residential/healthcare sector who is looking for some flexibility in their working week and is looking to operate on a contract basis. You may have childcare commitments, could be nearing the end of your career but would like to continue working in structural design on a more flexible basis or you may want a 3-day weekend regularly.

Role Requirements:

• Chartered Engineer status (ICE/IStructE)
• Residential/Healthcare/Care homes design experience
• Design assurance/checking experience
• Mentoring experience
