Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting an Expeditor for 6 month contract working with a large rail business based in Doncaster.

The Opportunity

Due to a large number of projects my client are in need of an expeditor who can push throug the delivery of crucial parts for each project to ensure succesful completion and on time delivery for the end client. The successful candidate will be joining the purchasing team to help in the sourcing of raw materials, equipment and sub-contract services that are required for the manufacturing process of contracts. The candidate will be creating day to day plans, generating PO numbers and schedules and chasing parts from suppliers.

This is originally a 6 month contract that has the potential to be extended to 12 months for the right candidate.

Location (s): The position is based on site in Doncaster

Role and Responsibilities:

• Manage, administer and expedite the purchase of goods and services in a project driven environment.
• Ensure that PO's, Schedules and Day to Day plans are created to ensure delivery of critical components/ materials for each stage of the production process.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships at an appropriate level, carrying out supplier visits when necessary thereby developing close working partnerships with key suppliers.
• Establish critical path deadlines and expedite as appropriate.
• Chase suppliers when materials/ components do not arrive in order to reduce any delays to production.

The Candidate

This position requires a tenacious and confident individual who is not afraid to chase down suppliers to get the best end result for the company.

Essentials

• Ability to generate PO's in a variety of systems.
• Organisation/ Planning skills within a production environment.
• Excel/ Spreadsheet skills are a must.

Desirable

• A demonstrable background in expediting, specifically within the mechanical handling/ manufacturing industries would be advantageous although not essential.
• Logistics experience.
• Material Planning experience.
