Main Purpose of the job:

Identify and develop sustainable business opportunities, design, estimate, plan and manage the delivery of associated work projects, to provide a consistent workflow and optimise profit contribution to the business and ensure all safety, quality, technical and commercial requirements are met.

Key Accountabilities

Safety

Actively promote a positive safety culture, ensuring all Company and customer safety rules and procedures are observed by staff and contractors.

Manage Work Programmes

Manage all types of projects works within area of activity, ensuring work is completed on schedule and to budget with full and effective use made of resources including sub-contractors at all times.

Design and Specifications

Provide/Input into technical design and specification for all types of projects of varying size, to ensure maximum profit contribution consistent with customer requirements and commercial/technical issues.

Business Development

Takes a lead in promoting business development within the team. Sources new, develops existing business contacts and established client database to promote the Company’s services and generate profitable business opportunities, including providing accurate estimates to contribute to the successful tendering and realisation of a consistent flow of profitable business opportunities.

Budgetary and Quality Control

Manage all work to ensure it is carried out within budget, deadlines and work standards. Manage work in progress, cash flow, invoicing, applications for payment and debt procedures. Manage project administration to ensure quality, budget and programme requirements are achieved.

Team Management

Lead and direct staff, promoting a high level of motivation and co-operation to ensure delivery of projects to budget, programme and safety and quality standards.

High Quality Customer Service

Represent our client at local level, ensuring all enquires are handled in the appropriate manner and a positive image of the Company is maintained at all times.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Business Knowledge

• Sound electrical knowledge and strong awareness of mechanical/process/gas systems as relevant to assigned activity
• Proven commercial acumen
• Knowledge of key projects and customer/client base
• Awareness of the Company’s activities and objectives
• Breadth of experience across a range of contracting activities

Essential Functional / Technical Skills

• PTS competence
• Proven experience in delivering electrical schemes in the rail industry
• Must be willing to travel
• Completed a craft apprenticeship (or recognised equivalent)
• Developed competence at least to the level of BTEC or equivalent technical training and experience
• Excellent management skills
• Proven ability to identify, develop, support design, quote and deliver projects offering a high profit contribution to the business
• Thorough understanding of technical drawings and specifictions
• Proven ability to balance customer requirements, commercial priorities and, technical design to deliver consistent workflow and high profit contribution
• Astute project administration and financial management of projects
• Monitor quality and safety in the workplace
• Experienced user of general office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project)
