Contracts Manager in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
We have an opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a high profile rail project based in Glasgow. The consortium, made up of public bodies, national and international companies, is now moving into the construction phase. This is initially for a 2 year fixed term contract and it is a key appointment in terms of the successful delivery of this complex project.
The project encompasses many different railway technologies, therefore experience in previous similar contract management / delivery roles and knowledge of the technologies such as CBTC signalling and telecommunications systems will be of significant interest.
Similarly, the Contract Manager will possess excellent stakeholder management skills and be comfortable communicating at all levels internal and external to the company.
Responsibilities and skills
- monitoring the delivery of company work packages towards subcontractors
- monitoring the delivery of the subcontractors during this construction stage of the project
- commercially astute with the project management skills to match
- have a good understanding of NEC contracts;
- positively contribute to the performance and reputation of the company, to exceed client’s expectations on safety, quality and operational delivery
- manage client expectations and effectively collaborate with them to support the delivery of the work packages in accordance with contractual commitments
- work closely with the Construction Manager and Supervisors to ensure accurate reporting and quick resolution of on-site preparation and on-site issues by any stakeholder that may impact upon the agreed contracted time and budgets
- produce timely and accurate KPI reporting for senior management
- attend, and where appropriate, lead contractor performance reviews, planning meetings, client project reviews and other meetings as designated by the Project Director when required
- on occasion, conduct their own site visits with interested stakeholders
- contribute to the negotiation of sub-contract orders, variations and contractual claims that may arise from on-site progress
- be fully computer literate with Microsoft Office packages and able to work on their own initiative
