SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Payroll Assistant ensures that all aspects of the payroll cycle for temporary workers and benefits administration are processed in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with Company and government policies.
A summary of duties include:
*Input data relating to worker payments into the payroll database on a regular basis, ensuring that temporary workers are paid on time and receive the correct payments;
*Maintain worker records; set up new starters and process leavers, ensure that worker changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization.
*Processing court orders & statutory payments;
*Completing the company CIS returns;
*Ensure that correct payments, reports and returns are made to third party bodies;
*Carry out month and year end processes essential for statutory and other returns;
*Deal with enquiries from temporary workers and external contacts and agencies, by telephone or in writing;
*Prepare payroll/budgetary information from the payroll system as required by the relevant departments and provide support to the Payroll Manager during the annual budgeting process;

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Experience with hourly and daily payroll;
Accounting knowledge sufficient to perform journal entries and payroll account reconciliations;
Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information;
Strong computer skills particularly in the use of MS Office;
Detail oriented and ability to work to tight timelines;
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with employees at various levels of the organization.
